Retaining service records communicates two things to potential buyers – that your car is well taken care of and that you have had few surprise issues with your car, as you are willing to show them your complete service history. A transparent service history is a double-edged sword and benefits those with a well documented and trouble free past.
 
Keeping all of your vehicle’s service records is also important if you need to prove that you have followed the terms of your warranty. In some situations manufacturers will claim that you did not follow the terms of their warranty will treat it as void. Having complete and detailed service records will allow you to dispute the manufacturers claim and leave no doubt in their minds that you have complied with the requirements of the warranty. And the more repair bills you’re able to charge to your warranty, the better.
